Dr. David Sharp, Principal
Dr. David Sharp brings more than 30 years of experience in public education as a teacher, coach, principal, and district leader. Prior to joining BVA, he served as principal of Blue Valley Northwest High School and retired from the Lee’s Summit R-7 School District after serving as Assistant Superintendent of Secondary Education and principal of Lee’s Summit West High School, and Summit Technology Academy.
Known for his commitment to student success, academic excellence, and positive school culture, Dr. Sharp has led schools recognized at the state and national levels, including National Blue Ribbon School, Missouri Gold Star School, and Project Lead the Way national honors. His leadership has earned numerous professional recognitions, including Missouri State High School Principal of the Year.
Dr. Sharp holds a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Baker University, along with specialist and master’s degrees from the University of Missouri and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Central Missouri.
A U.S. Army veteran, Dr. Sharp is passionate about partnering with students, families, staff, and the community to help each BVA student discover their strengths, develop purpose, and take pride in their school and community. He and his wife, Heather, have three children and have called the Kansas City area home for many years.
