Dr. David Sharp, Principal
Dr. David Sharp brings more than 30 years of experience in public education as a teacher, coach, principal, and district leader. Before joining BVA, he served as principal of Blue Valley Northwest High School. He retired from the Lee’s Summit R-7 School District after serving as Assistant Superintendent of Secondary Education, principal of Lee’s Summit West High School, Summit Technology Academy, and Pleasant Lea Middle School.
Known for his commitment to student success, academic excellence, and positive school culture, Dr. Sharp has led schools recognized at the state and national levels, including National Blue Ribbon School, Missouri Gold Star School, and Project Lead the Way national honors. His leadership has earned numerous professional recognitions, including Missouri State High School Principal of the Year.
A U.S. Army veteran, Dr. Sharp is passionate about partnering with students, families, staff, and the community to help each BVA student discover their strengths, develop purpose, and take pride in their school and community. He and his wife, Heather, have three grown children. Outside of BVA, Dr. Sharp enjoys spending time with his family and is an avid outdoorsman.
